Hello everyone and a very happy new year. I hope 2017 is treating you all good so far. Mine is super amazing. So this is the first post of 2017 and it’s what I have added to my skincare routine recently. Well, girlies When it comes to skin care I would say 2016 was a major learning curb for me knowing what works well for my skin. My skin can be a bit on the fussy side because its combination skin so its mixture of oily and also quite dry in parts too, so finding the right products that help my skin was a huge challenge. I had a little skin care regime which included a few homemade masks with natural ingredients that usually worked wonders for me and I will have a post about that in the very near future so keep a look out for it. And then while I was on a window shopping, I came across The Body Shop Himalayan Charcoal Purifying Glow Mask. And got to know that it’s all made with exotic, natural ingredients also known as superfood face masks.
The Body Shop have launched a range of new, Superfood Masks, five in total and each targeting a specific skin need. The Himalayan Charcoal mask is basically designed to draw out impurities and refine the appearance of pores with its active ingredients of bamboo charcoal, green tea leaves, and organic tea tree oil. I badly needed one because my skin has had very bad weeks. So with high hopes and prayers for a miracle, I got home and immediately slathered it all over my face.
The Body Shop Himalayan Charcoal Purifying Glow face mask is a mud-textured exfoliation mask. It works to deeply cleanse and purify the skin by clearing clogged pores and releasing impurities and toxins and leaves the skin super smooth and glowing. It’s very easy to use. All you have to do is remove your makeup and cleanse the skin, use a foundation brush to smooth an even layer of the Himalayan Charcoal mask all over the face (or spot treat just your oily areas) avoiding eye and lip area. (For me I use it all over my face). You can also Apply to neck if desired. Leave it for 5-10 minutes or till it dries up completely, then rinse off with lukewarm water and a muslin cloth (or wash cloth) in circular motions to gently exfoliate. The scent is quite similar – a mix of peppermint and eucalyptus. It feels good on the skin. The mask contains small chunks which cling to the skin whilst drying and serve as an exfoliant once you come to wash the mask off. Use 2 to 3 times a week to see visible results.
I usually apply the mask with my finger and for me, it takes 10 mins to completely dry and then I start gently removing it, working the granules into my skin to get that extra exfoliation. Overall, the entire removal process takes some time. Even after you re-wet the mask, it still has a pretty firm grip on the skin. Also, I have read a few reviews that mentioned they experienced some tingling. Although I’d say my skin is a little on the sensitive side, all I really felt was a light mint-like tingle all over, which started about 2 minutes in as the mask began to dry. Afterward, I didn’t experience any irritation after rinsing it off. I felt it’s very relaxing once you layer it all over your face. After using The Body Shop Himalayan Charcoal face mask a few weeks, my skin felt amazingly soft, smooth and glowing. I love how it visibly works to remove spots and makes the skin even. The amazing little side benefit of the mask is its ability to intensely exfoliate the skin, which, when you think about it, is also crucial when it comes to decongesting pores in the long-term. You want to remove both sebum and dead skin that can build up in the pores. This mask is the first detoxifying mask I’ve come across that takes care of both.
Overall, if you’re looking for an intensive, purifying mask that will gradually help unclogged those pores but also give you the extra exfoliation in the process, I’d absolutely recommend giving The Body Shop Himalayan Charcoal Purifying Glow Mask a try. It’s an amazing buy. It’s a little pricey but trust me it’s worth the price!
The Body Shop Himalayan Charcoal Purifying Glow Mask is available at The Body Shop for Rs. 4,500.
